Mid-West Japan Cancer Professional Education Consortium

Promotion of team medicine and standardization of cancer medicine in the Chugoku and Shikoku region with an interregional and interprofessional unified curriculum

In this program, 10 Universities in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions have come together to create a consortium. Course work at graduate level for cancer specialists in various occupations including medical and co-medical fields have been streamlined and together with 37 cancer medical care related hubs, aim to send cancer specialists of a sufficient level out into the world.


  • Train up cancer treatment specialists at graduate schools (implementation as graduate education).
  • Same high level of cancer treatment to be received nationwide (reduction of cancer care disparities).
  • Train up human resources who can practice team medicine.
  • Train up specialists in cancer pharmacology and medical treatment, radiation treatment and palliative care through cooperation with Universities in other prefectures.
  • Train up pharmaceutical chemists, nursing staff and medical physicists.
