Current Research Projects

Liver
  • Analysis of the effect of the hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy in combination with radiation for unresectable advanced hepatocellular carcinoma.
  • Analysis of liver fibrosis with elastography.
  • Analysis of the effects of partial splenic embolization (PSE) and splenectomy on decompensated cirrhosis.
  • Analysis of therapeutic effect of radiofrequency ablation for hepatocellular carcinoma using real time virtual sonography (RVS) and contrast echo.
  • Analyses of the serum micro RNAs in viral hepatitis.
Alimentary Tract
  • Animal experiments for the realization of the complete natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (pure NOTES).
  • Development of endoscope-related equipment by the Medical and engineering industry-academia-government collaboration project team (Kagawa NOTES project team) - a suturing device for flexible endoscope perfectly performing the full-thickness plication of gastrointestinal tract wall, a counter traction device to expand the operative field, etc.
  • Joint development of biomedical engineering using micromachine technology (MEMS technology): Partnership with Kagawa University Faculty of Engineering microstructure device integration Research Center.
  • Endoscopic vascular transection surgery for gastroesophageal varices.
  • Relaxation incision surgery for postoperative gastrointestinal tract stenosis.
  • Preventive effect of the steroid to the gastrointestinal tract stenosis.
  • Bloc biopsy by tunneling method using endoscopic submucosal dissection for an upper gastrointestinal submucosal tumor.
  • Studies on the effectiveness of post-ESD wound surface closure and the wound closure procedures itself.
  • Basic research on the anti-tumor effect of metformin against gastrointestinal caner.
  • Basic research on the anti-tumor effect of Galectin-9 against gastrointestinal caner.
  • Micro RNA involvement in the digestive tract diseases.
Pancreas & Biliary Tract
  • Diagnosis and treatment using the endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP); EST, lithotripsy, placement of metallic stent, etc.
  • Treatment and diagnosis using the endoscopic ultrasound (EUS); EUS-FNA, EUS-PCD, EUS-BD, EUS-PD, necrosectomy on the infected pancreatic necrosis, IDUS, etc.
  • Comprehensive analysis of the micro RNA of pancreatic cancer tissue obtained by EUS-FNA.
  • Basic research on the anti-tumor effect of metformin against pancreatic cancer and biliary tract caner.
  • The development of a new tumor marker of pancreatic cancer using serum micro RNA.
